The Alive Museum: Daecheon and lunch in Gongju

While our Saturday was spent enjoying the beautiful day at the beach and relaxing in the countryside, Sunday forced us to head indoors due to rain. We decided to go to the Alive Museum in Daecheon for some fun picture-taking experiences ☺

This goofy attraction actually has four locations in Korea and features various paintings and interactive sculptures which, when your picture is taken in just the right way, give the illusion that you are interacting with them. It was very silly, but we had a great time!

Here are just a few of the many photos that were taken:

Hahaha

Instructions at each painting told you how best to take your pictures

After we had our fill of ridiculous pictures we made our way back towards home, stopping for lunch in a beautiful city called Gongju.

Although it was rainy, the views around Gongju were beautiful

The views from our restaurant

Our restaurant had so many windows, the views were incredible

It was still raining, and we were surrounded by some lush mountains, so it really felt like we were in some part of Western Washington. We were told that Gongju had a famous temple which was a popular place to visit.

Lunch was a mixture of Korean traditional foods like Korean pancake, acorn jelly salad, bibimbop, cooked mushrooms and root veggies, small whole fish, and a few different soups. One of which, if I remember correctly, was a type of fermented soybean soup called Doenjang jjigae.

Top right: a more rustic type of Korean pancake filled with octopus
