Lake Park and the 5th Annual Sejong Festival
One of the biggest tourist attractions in Sejong is Lake Park. Over the Chuseok break we walked over there (~40 minute walk) and checked it out. We spent most of the day here, walking around and taking pictures. We hope you enjoy! Here are some pictures from that day:
Sejong Lake Park
Sam took this great panorama
We saw so many Nephila clavata, a type of Golden Silk Orb-weaver, it was incredible. They are called golden silk orb weavers because the framework strands are a bright, shiny golden color. The webs are incredibly strong and sticky, so plenty of debris gets caught in them.
They are all so huge right now and they are everywhere!!
You can see in many webs the males are there too
After mating, females will lay their egg sacs which will overwinter
The female is brightly colored, yellow with black striping
The male can be seen a little distance from her, above the green leaf
Welcome to Sejong Lake Park
Map of Lake Park
Some pretty large Koi fish fill the lake
We saw some strange educational signs going around the lake. But not about ecosystems or the history of Sejong or anything to do with the lake itself.
Math tour?
Nutrition facts?
There's also this really long bridge spanning across the whole lake, with a large glass structure in the middle of it.
A barge with paddle boards, kayaks, and water bikes, stored until next summer
Cute bench
Circular boardwalk/dock area
We noticed a lot of banners and signs advertising a major event happening in the park, and after further googling/investigating, we realized it was the 5th Annual Sejong Festival. A 3-day event filled with food trucks, music, performances, and vendors.
We saw a ton of tents being set up, plus a main stage

Here are some pictures from the opening night of the festival:
The bridge spanning the lake was lit up
We bought this delicious chicken, coated in sauce and tossed in pumpkin seeds and almonds
Sooooo good... So good.

Sam got a hot dog wrapped with a churro
It tasted exactly like it sounds
The lady at the counter suggested Mayo and Ketchup be added on top... 😖 Hahah
We also had these delicious pancakes filled with melted brown sugar and pumpkin seeds

There was a musical showing the celebration of King Sejong and the creation of Hangul, the Korean Alphabet
So after we had already eaten all of this random street food, we stumbled upon the food trucks.
South Korean food truck game is next level. All of the trucks' roofs open upwards and unfold like a jewelry box, to reveal a podium for their cooks and cashiers to serve people from. This also provides great opportunities for flashy signage. There were food trucks with all different types of food too. Hotdogs and burgers, burritos, tacos, sushi, Cuban sandwiches, Cocktail trucks, and so much more.
Overall A++ food trucks.
Hot dogs
Cuban sandwiches
Burritos and quesadillas
This burger food truck was sold out of everything for the night
View of the food truck lane from the bridge
It was absolutely packed
It was almost a good thing that we had already eaten, the lines for every food truck were super long.
Opening ceremony fireworks display

Thanks for reading! I know it was a longer post but we've been meaning to share these pictures for a few weeks now.
Coming soon: video tour of our apartment/building (video is taken, just need to edit!), plus more posts from Sam about walking around Sejong, and more!
