Seoul, Pt. 2

Namsan Park and Seoul Tower

A big part of our second day in Seoul was spent at Namsan Park. We took the subway to Hoehyeon station and walked for about 15 minutes until making it to the park entrance.

Right from the beginning we were climbing up this mountain. There were a couple of options, we could take a stair pathway or a paved pathway. Please enjoy this video we made which summarizes our trip ☺

More fall colors

Had to pull out the selfie stick to get the scope of where we were ☺

After climbing for a bit we reached a flat area with a large grassy field. People were picnicing, walking dogs, playing ball with kids, and otherwise enjoying the fall weather.

There were some pretty interesting statues here as well

We walked around a bit, trying to figure out the next step to the hike. We had two options: hike down the other side a bit and take a cable car to the top, or take the stairs. Being a beautiful day, and because we didn't get enough steps in already this trip (/s haha), we decided to take the stairs/hike up!

So glad we did. The views along the way were just unreal. It was a beautiful, clear day. A little chilly, but basically perfect for the hike.

There were some viewing platforms along the way

First clear shot of the tower

Namsan tower, or Seoul tower, stands at 236m tall. In the area surrounding the base of the tower you can find thousands of padlocks, locked on the fences and other solid structures. These are called "Locks of Love" and they are a way for couples to hang a lock as a symbol of eternal love. You can buy locks at the top near the cable car exit or in the gift shops at the tower. As this whole trip was a way for Sam and I to celebrate two years of dating, of course we had to make one.

We picked this spot to hang our lock

We wrote the date on the back
Maybe one day we will get to visit it again!

Love padlock tree--see, just padlocks everywhere

Next we wanted to go up into the tower. The prices were W 10,000 per person to take the elevator to the top. Fortunately we saw a deal for two people: W 26,000 plus two beers and a large popcorn. So we pretty much scored big on that one haha ☺

Cheers!

The views themselves were just amazing. The pictures I share here really won't do them justice, but I hope you enjoy anyway. We had a great time, spent about half an hour up there just walking around to each window.

You can see the Han River in this shot

After enjoying the spectacular views from Seoul Tower, we walked around the courtyard area a bit more, going from end to end to see all of the great panoramic views one more time.

We hope you enjoyed the photos from this trip. It was the highlight of our experience in Seoul. 10/10 would recommend to anyone traveling here. We are even thinking about doing it again some time, but maybe at night instead. We'll see ☺

Coming soon: more snack reviews, updates, and more.
